Aruba’s Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort Pioneers Sustainable Development with Nature Preserve

Celebrating its 35th anniversary, Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort gifted Aruba with the Bucuti & Tara – GMC Nature Preserve, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 15: Preserving Life on Land. The preserve, nestled in the scarce undeveloped land of Noord, reflects the resort’s commitment to reversing climate change, fostering community engagement, and safeguarding land for future generations.

Ewald Biemans, Owner/CEO of Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort, emphasized the preserve’s significance in preserving prime land and its alignment with SDG15, highlighting the ongoing collaboration with the nonprofit Ban Lanta y Planta.

In its first year, the initiative has made strides toward reforesting and preserving nature. The community, government officials, resort staff, and guests actively participate in planting indigenous trees, with 414 trees planted and 1,500 seedlings prepared by Ban Lanta y Planta. This nature preserve serves as a carbon sink, absorbing harmful carbon emissions while emitting oxygen.

Beyond the preserve, Bucuti & Tara maintains sustainable practices, including monthly beach clean-ups, indigenous plantings, water conservation, and supporting the local Donkey Sanctuary. The resort’s dedication earned accolades, including membership in Regenerative Travel, recognition for environmental protection from AHATA, and recertification as a carbon-neutral hotel.

As a leader in sustainable tourism, Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort continues to set benchmarks for eco-conscious travel, epitomizing a commitment to preserving nature while providing guests with a values-driven vacation experience. Explore more at Bucuti.com.
