With over 1.18 million visitors year-to-date and a 15.7% increase in arrivals compared to the same period in 2023, the island continues to strengthen its position as a leading travel destination in the Caribbean.

Aruba welcomed 1,186,508 visitors by October 2024, marking a 15.7% increase compared to 2023. Key contributors to this surge include:

  • North America: 947,909 visitors (14.3% growth)
  • South America: 150,426 visitors (44.4% growth)
  • Europe: 57,631 visitors (6.3% decrease due to specific market fluctuations)

Strong Performance by U.S. Visitors

The U.S. remained the largest source market, contributing 894,537 arrivals, a 14.1% year-over-year growth. States like New Jersey and New York led this increase, with 22.5% and 17.6% growth respectively.

Spending and Accommodation Trends

Record Tourism Credits

Visitor spending also saw an upward trend, reaching AWG 4,671 million, a 13.5% increase over 2023. This surge was driven by longer stays and greater participation in premium accommodations.

Accommodation Preferences

Tourists spent over 9 million nights in Aruba, reflecting a 9.5% growth. Preferences were divided among:

  • All-Inclusive Resorts: 1,265,555 nights (+1.3%)
  • Timeshares: 2,570,589 nights (+3%)
  • Other accommodations: 3,285,630 nights (+21.8%)

Emerging Travel Markets and Trends

South America Leads Growth

South America showed exceptional performance, with notable increases from:

  • Argentina (+43.6%)
  • Chile (+76.5%)
  • Peru (+225.2%)

These numbers underscore the growing interest from these countries, fueled by improved connectivity and marketing efforts.

Generational Travel Insights

Millennials (25.3%) and Gen X (26.2%) were the largest generational groups visiting Aruba, with family-friendly offerings cited as a significant draw.
