Validity of Candidate Lists for Aruba Elections

As Aruba prepares for the upcoming elections, the Polling Station Headquarters is organizing public sessions to discuss the validity of candidate lists. These sessions aim to ensure that all political parties comply with the Electoral Ordinance and promote transparency in the election process.

Process Begins with Review of Submitted Candidate Lists

The process began on November 1, 2024, when the Polling Station Headquarters held a restricted session to review the candidate lists submitted by political parties on October 18, 2024. The goal is to ensure the lists comply with the legal requirements outlined in the Electoral Ordinance. This review is crucial for the smooth functioning of the upcoming elections.

Correction Period for Political Parties

On November 4, 2024, all political parties were informed of the necessary corrections to be made to their submitted candidate lists. They have until November 7, 2024, to submit the required changes. It is important for all parties to make these corrections to prevent any issues that could delay the election process.

First Public Session to Announce List Validity

The first public session will take place on November 8, 2024, at 10:00 AM. During this session, the Polling Station Headquarters will officially announce the validity of the candidate lists. Voters and interested parties are encouraged to attend and participate in this important event.

Next Steps After the Public Session

If no appeals are filed within two days after the public session, the Polling Station Headquarters will proceed with numbering the candidate lists. This process will include a public drawing of lots to determine the order of candidates and assign colors to each list. The event will take place on November 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM.

In the case of a court appeal regarding the validity of the candidate lists, the numbering and color assignment session will be rescheduled and completed no later than November 21, 2024.

Stay Informed and Participate in Public Sessions

The Polling Station Headquarters invites all voters, political parties, and the public to attend the public sessions and stay updated on the progress of the elections. All sessions will be held at the Civil Registry Office, and voters can also follow the live stream through the official social media platforms of the Polling Station Headquarters.

Importance of Public Engagement

Engaging in these public sessions helps ensure transparency and fairness in the electoral process. It also provides an opportunity for voters to voice their concerns and stay informed about the election developments.
