San Nicolas Revenue Centers: Key to Local Business Growth

The San Nicolas Business Association (SNBA), led by President Errol de Freitas, is actively working to revitalize the San Nicolas area. Recent developments, including the identification of key revenue centers, aim to attract new businesses and stimulate economic growth.

Revitalizing San Nicolas: Main Street Project Progress

The SNBA has been closely involved in the ongoing Main Street revitalization project in San Nicolas. The first phase of the project, which included replacing asphalt with pavers from Van de Veen Zeppenfeldstraat to Charlie’s Bar, is now complete. The second phase extends to Paulus Potterstraat, with additional parking and lighting improvements expected to take about 50 days.

Errol de Freitas expressed gratitude for the progress and anticipates completion before December, noting that these developments have been in the pipeline for several years.

Vision for San Nicolas: Revenue Centers to Attract Business

The SNBA has been collaborating with the Government of Aruba for the past six years to develop a comprehensive vision for San Nicolas. This vision includes the identification of ‘Revenue Centers,’ strategically located areas designed to attract new businesses, particularly in the gastronomic sector.

According to de Freitas, these centers are crucial for tapping into opportunities that align with the local culture and economy. The SNBA is focused on ensuring that these areas are prepared for business growth, particularly in sectors like dining and shopping, which are expected to thrive with the upcoming developments.

Addressing Local Concerns: Red Zone and Infrastructure Improvements

In addition to business development, the SNBA is addressing concerns related to the local infrastructure and public safety. Efforts have been made in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice to clean up and enhance security in the Red Zone of San Nicolas. De Freitas emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance between development and preserving the community’s safety and heritage.

Future Developments: Engaging the Community

The SNBA continues to engage with local stakeholders, including hotel owners and developers, to ensure that future projects align with the broader vision for San Nicolas. This includes addressing concerns about the preservation of Baby Beach and other key areas.

De Freitas also highlighted the need for responsible animal management in the area, urging the community to support initiatives like the establishment of a crematorium for animals to address public health concerns.
