Partido Raiz Stands for Integrity in Government Processes

Partido Raiz emphasizes the importance of integrity and transparency in Aruba’s governmental processes, aiming to ensure fairness and accountability.

In a recent press conference, Partido Raiz reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring integrity in all governmental processes in Aruba. Led by party leader Ursell Arends, the coalition party highlighted the importance of maintaining transparency and fairness, particularly in the areas of permit issuance and taxi license transfers. Arends stressed that these issues are crucial to the party’s platform, reflecting the values that Partido Raiz upholds and that the Aruban community expects to see in their government.

Commitment to Fairness and Equal Opportunities

Partido Raiz has taken a firm stance on promoting equal opportunities within just systems. Arends pointed out that the abrupt changes in the permit and taxi license systems have prompted the party to take decisive actions to ensure fairness. These changes, according to Arends, challenge the traditional political structures and require determination to push forward, especially when these reforms serve the general interest of the public.

During a recent parliamentary session, Minister Arends defended his handling of taxi license transfers, responding to comments from MEP party member Alvin Molina. Arends made it clear that for his ministry, integrity is not just a goal but a standard that must be upheld in all government operations. The community of Aruba, he emphasized, also demands to see integrity in action.

Transparency as a Cornerstone of Democracy

Carlos Guiamo, an advisor to Minister Arends, spoke about the execution of democratic functions, underlining the critical role of transparency. He noted that no democracy can function optimally without sufficient transparency and that citizens must have access to governmental information. To address this, the ministry launched the Publico.aw website, aiming to set a new standard for governmental transparency in Aruba. This platform provides public access to information from the Ministry of Integrity, Transportation, Environment, and Elderly Affairs, as well as the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Communication, and Sustainable Development led by Geoffrey Wever.

Guiamo emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure that the public is informed about government spending, management documents, and reports. This increased transparency, he believes, is essential for a functioning democracy and aligns with Partido Raiz’s commitment to integrity in government processes.
