Proyecto RWA Palm Beach: Main Road Asphalt Update

Aruba Online News, Palm Beach – The major artery of Palm Beach is getting a significant facelift, and the residents and businesses of the area are eager for its completion. Today marked a major milestone in the ongoing Proyecto RWA Palm Beach, as the team commenced the removal of old asphalt, a process slated to last for 3 days.

Once the current removal is complete, stretching from the CMB crossing to the Pompstacion, the next phase will involve groundworks, gearing up for asphalt laying next week. This step-by-step procedure is ensuring that the road is not just visually appealing but also safe and long-lasting for all its users.

The Department of Public Works (DOW) had initially divided this project into three phases. However, the focus has remained on Phase #1, which encapsulates drainage improvements in front of Citgo Palm Beach and the renewal of the asphalt from Citgo Palm Beach to Botica Santa Anna.

This week marks 7 months (since March 27th, 2023) since the inception of the project. The initial phase was set to complete within 35 working days and was further divided into three sections:

Excavation to place tubes under the road, concrete works, and connecting the drainage to the Palm Beach Condos tank.
Removal of the asphalt layer from Citgo Palm Beach to Botica Santa Ana.
Laying a new asphalt layer.
The subsequent phases of the project are:

Phase 2: Enlarging water capacity and structuring the wall of the culvert at the Palm Beach tank crossing.
Phase 3: Expanding the capacity of the culvert at Keito.
Phase 4: Asphalting and improving water flow on the dirt road at Palm Beach 94-B.
In the most recent update, the contractor has stated that they are finalizing the last asphalt details.

By coming days, road marking works will commence, and by evening, the road is expected to open to the public. They acknowledge that the project’s duration exceeded initial estimates. In light of this, a heartfelt thank you is extended to all residents and business owners in the area for their patience and understanding during this massive undertaking.

The newly asphalted road promises to bring multiple benefits to the Palm Beach area. Improved road quality means smoother drives, increased safety, and an enhanced aesthetic appeal, all contributing to the potential growth of local businesses and overall community upliftment. This project stands as a testament to the commitment towards infrastructural advancement and the betterment of the lives of those who call Palm Beach home.
