Did you know that Aruba has land snails?

Aruba Nature Explorers shares their story of Aruba’s lands snails with us.

This week we received an interesting story from Aruba Nature Explorers, an amazing eco-tour company.

The Landsnail (Cerion uva) known in the ABC islands as “Cocolishi di Calacuna” or “Wikkelkindje” is a species of air-breathing tropical land snail. A small fragile white snail, they are able to survive difficult dry periods of several years.
Have you ever seen these land snails on the Island? Are you curious about them? Then join Aruba Nature Explorers with their Spanish Lagoon Mangrove Trail Hike where you can have a chance to see these beauties!

Aruba Under Water

On October 20th, 2020, Aruba had an unusually heavy downpour. This small tropical storm came from the Southwest coast of Southamerica. Aruba experienced heavy rain with strong winds plus thunder and lightning. Many streets were underwater so the police closed low lying roads to prevent people from getting stuck. Some roads were impossible to cross and the heavy rain made it difficult for many people to see where they were driving.

Eventually the small tropical storm passed. By night time the roads began to clear up and people could drive through them again. It was a rough day for the Aruban community as we are so used to perfect weather.
