Mini Wastewater Treatment Project in Faradaystraat/Mangel Halto

The Department of Public Works would like to inform the Aruban community, especially the residents of the Mangel Halto area, that starting this Monday, August 14th, 2023, they will be commencing a project on Faradaystraat. This project will involve the installation of a “Mini Wastewater Treatment Plant” in the ground, aiming to prevent the discharge of untreated water into the sea.

The objective of this project includes various benefits such as, reducing contaminated water flowing into the sea, improving water quality for future agricultural and irrigation use, and fostering economic growth through enhanced tourism and area beautification.

The Mini Wastewater Treatment will utilize VFL technology and will be installed underground. This technology has been implemented in over 70,000 plants across more than 50 different countries.

A town hall meeting was held yesterday for the residents of the area to inform them about the details of the project. It is worth mentioning that the residents were pleased to be informed and involved, providing their opinions and asking questions.

Furthermore, it is important to note that only Faradaystraat will be partially closed during the project, and Wattsstraat or the area frequented by residents/tourists for beach access will remain open.

We hope to have informed the Aruban community about this project, which is set to begin this coming Monday.

The implementation of a Mini Wastewater Treatment Plant in the area of Mangel Halto demonstrates a significant step towards environmental sustainability and enhancement of local ecosystem.
