Cas Veneranda Renovation: Funding Secured for Completion

The restoration of the historic Cas Veneranda in Aruba is now fully funded. During a recent visit by the Dutch National Restoration Fund (NRF), the final financing agreement was signed, paving the way for the project’s completion by late 2025.

The Cas Veneranda restoration project in Aruba is moving forward, thanks to secured financing through a partnership with the Dutch Restoration Fund.

Partnership for Monument Preservation

The Stichting Monumentenfonds Aruba (SMFA) has worked with the NRF since 2009, utilizing low-interest loans to restore significant monuments. This collaboration has already resulted in the preservation of landmarks such as the Watertorens of Oranjestad and San Nicolas, the California Lighthouse, and the Botica Aruba.

A Milestone for Cas Veneranda

During the NRF delegation’s visit, led by account manager Harry Kers and other key representatives, the SMFA showcased ongoing and upcoming projects. The highlight of the visit was the signing of the financing agreement for Cas Veneranda by SMFA Chairperson Rousanne de Weever and NRF Director Ugur Özcan.

Why Cas Veneranda Matters

Cas Veneranda is a historical gem, showcasing Aruba’s architectural and cultural heritage. Its restoration represents a commitment to preserving the island’s history for future generations.

Key Benefits of the Renovation:

  • Cultural Preservation: Protecting Aruba’s historical identity.
  • Tourism Boost: Revitalized monuments attract visitors and enhance cultural tourism.
  • Community Engagement: Restored spaces create opportunities for local events and activities.

Highlights from the NRF Visit

The delegation also visited several previously restored monuments, such as:

  • California Lighthouse

These successful restorations illustrate the impact of the NRF’s support in Aruba.

What’s Next for Cas Veneranda?

With financing now in place, the SMFA can proceed with the final stages of the restoration. Completion is expected by the end of 2025. The project leader, Daphne Every, emphasized the importance of this milestone in preserving Aruba’s cultural heritage.
