On International Monuments Day, the Monument Fund Foundation of Aruba (SMFA) and the National Archaeological Museum Aruba (MANA) invite the public to explore 13 historic Aruba monuments. This annual event, happening on September 15, will showcase the island’s rich cultural heritage through a series of engaging tours and activities.

The Aruba Monuments Tour allows visitors to delve into Aruba’s unique history. MANA will be part of this tour, offering a glimpse into its historic buildings, declared protected monuments in 2010. Open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., these monuments present an opportunity to learn more about Aruba’s cultural legacy.

Exclusive Access to Cas Dundun on Monuments Day

Special Access to Historic Sites

On Monuments Day, the first floor of Cas Dundun will be accessible to the public. Visitors will have the chance to view its stunning balcony, the Cas di Mamachi, and the bedrooms of Boy and Nicky Ecury, offering a rare look into Aruba’s heritage. Members of the Ecury family will also share personal memories, adding a unique touch to the tour.

Cultural Events and Activities at MANA

In addition to exploring Aruba monuments, MANA will host a variety of cultural events, including a screening of the documentary “Dada Picus,” showcasing the work of famed architect Dada Picus. Archaeologist Raymundo Dijkhoff will give insightful lectures on land and underwater archaeological monuments at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Family-Friendly Activities and Local Cuisine

The Aruba Monuments Tour is not only educational but also packed with fun. The group “Hunto mane un famia” will offer a variety of local treats, including a soup festival, snacks, and fresh lime juice. Children can enjoy face painting, a sensory box, and traditional band performances.

By the end of the tour, a special event in front of the Post Office in Playa will announce the winner of the monumental tour for elementary school participants.
