Celebrating Inmate Education and Reintegration
ORANJESTAD – In a significant ceremony at the Correctional Institute Aruba (KIA), 106 Inmates receive certificates for completing courses offered by the Foundation for Education in Aruba (FEPA). This initiative highlights the importance of education in successful inmate reintegration.
Importance of Inmate Education
Investing in inmate education is crucial for their reintegration into society. The European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) emphasizes the necessity of such programs during their audits of Aruba. By providing educational opportunities, we pave the way for a more productive future for these individuals.
Courses Offered to Inmates
The integrated plan developed for inmates takes into account their educational levels and personal interests. The courses provided include:
- Small Business Management
- Basic Calculation and Accounting
- Manicure and Pedicure
- Conga Lessons (Basic and Advanced)
- Sales and Marketing
- Basic Horticulture
These programs enhance the skills of inmates, thereby improving their chances of successfully rejoining the workforce and society.
