Celebrating & Supporting Women at the Hilton
International Women’s Day (IWD) has been celebrated worldwide since 1911. This day aims to inspire gender equality and eliminate bias, stereotypes, and discrimination while promoting diversity, fairness, and inclusion.
Every year, on March 8th, the island is reminded of these values and the importance of collectively celebrating achievements and raising awareness about prominent issues.
At the Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino, IWD activities were spread across several days in March. The most memorable event was the Women’s Café, where team members gathered over coffee, cookies, and snacks to discuss important topics in small groups at round tables.
Each group shared insights from team members and professionals, discussing topics such as balancing career and family life, healthy aging, nurturing spirituality, and staying true to oneself. It became evident that women at the tables shared similar dilemmas and pondered similar existential questions. The sisterhood that formed during the discussions facilitated connections between participants from different departments and age groups.
The forum also featured a candid and insightful talk by Marisol Croes, who shared her personal journey in defining her individual identity.
The purposeful and enthusiastic women at the Hilton celebrated the day by supporting and motivating each other, fostering a deep sense of community and empathy.
The event was organized by the Department of Human Resources, with Nicole Hart from Ama Lurra Consultancy Coaching and Training playing a key role.
