August Sterilization Campaign at Playa Pabao: Control Aruba’s Pet Overpopulation

The sterilization campaign at Centro di Bario Playa Pabao continues in August, offering pet owners in Aruba the chance to control dog and cat overpopulation through free sterilization, microchipping, and registration.

Campaign Success in Previous Months

The ongoing sterilization campaign at Centro di Bario Playa Pabao aims to address the overpopulation of dogs and cats in Aruba. Initiated in April, these efforts are organized by the Animal Welfare Alliance Aruba (AWAA) and Paws United Aruba (PUA), consisting of numerous local foundations dedicated to animal welfare.

Results from August 3-4 and August 10-11 Events

During the campaign on August 3 and 4, PUA successfully sterilized 66 cats and dogs. The following weekend, on August 10 and 11, they sterilized an additional 92 animals. Each pet was not only sterilized but also microchipped and registered in the ‘Aruba Pet Registry,’ ensuring that they are accounted for in the central database.

Upcoming Campaign Dates and Participation Details

The Ministry of Nature supports these campaigns, emphasizing the importance of community participation in managing the island’s pet population. The ministry encourages all pet owners to take advantage of these free services to promote responsible pet ownership.

August 17-18 Event Schedule and Participation Guidelines

The next sterilization event will take place on August 17 and 18 at Centro di Bario Playa Pabao. Pet owners are invited to bring their pets between 8 AM and 11 AM. The event will run until 6 PM, giving ample time for the procedures and necessary care.
