New Art and Design Course Launching in October 2024
In collaboration with the Openbare Avondleergangen Aruba (OAA), the Design Academy Aruba will introduce an Art and Design course starting in October 2024. This four-year MBO 4-level program will provide students with the skills and knowledge to excel in both creative industries and entrepreneurship.
Comprehensive Art and Design Education for Students
The new Art and Design course will teach students how to create graphic designs, product designs, and more. With classes offered in multiple disciplines, participants will learn to craft logos, branding materials, and promotional designs using cutting-edge software and innovative techniques such as laser printing and ceramic printing. The program will emphasize sustainable design practices, preparing students to contribute to the creative industry in a responsible way.
This four-year course is structured with two evening classes and three practical sessions per week. This format ensures that students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for a successful career in the creative sector.
Opportunities for Creative and Professional Growth
Upon completion of the Art and Design program, students will have the option to continue their education at an HBO level, either in Aruba or abroad, or begin their professional careers. Graduates can pursue diverse opportunities in advertising agencies, tech companies, or work as freelancers, offering their creative services to a wide range of clients.
Students will also learn essential skills in communication and entrepreneurship, enabling them to effectively convey their creative ideas and influence the public through their designs. The course combines creative expression with technical mastery, giving graduates a competitive edge in the design world.
First-Ever MBO 4-Level Art and Design Course in Aruba
Minister Croes has emphasized the importance of this program, stating that this is the first time in Aruba’s history that an MBO 4-level Art and Design course is being offered. This project, which collaborates with a specialized school in the Netherlands, ensures that students receive internationally recognized diplomas, positioning them for global success.
The OAA is already promoting the program through their Facebook page and website, where interested candidates can register. The tuition for the program is AFL 1,200 per year, which includes access to the Adobe software suite and a laptop provided to students for the duration of their studies.
