Seatrade Europe & Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Shines at Prestigious Global Events in Hamburg
The Aruba Tourism Authority (A.T.A) and the Aruba Ports Authority (APA) joined forces to participate in two prestigious events, Seatrade Europe and the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) conference, hosted in Hamburg, Germany.
This collaborative effort by A.T.A and APA underscores Aruba’s commitment to elevating its cruise tourism, promoting sustainable practices, and solidifying the island’s position as a highly desirable cruise destination, especially for luxury cruise lines.
Representatives from A.T.A, including Patrick Melchiors, Destination Services Manager, and Monica Bos, Cruise Manager, engaged in productive dialogues with delegates from many of the world’s leading cruise lines. They emphasized Aruba’s dedication to a “high value – low impact” approach to tourism.
The Aruba Ports Authority was represented by CEO Marc Figaroa and Commercial Manager Mario Arends, contributing their expertise to the discussions.
During the events, the A.T.A and APA teams actively participated in workshops and conducted one-on-one meetings with key cruise industry representatives. The key areas of focus during these engagements included:
- Sustainability in the Cruise Industry: Aruba’s recognition of the importance of environmentally responsible tourism.
- Shore Power in Ports: The adoption of shore power, which allows cruise ships to connect to onshore electrical grids while docked, thereby reducing emissions and enhancing sustainability.
- Port Development for Enhanced Guest and Crew Experiences: Ensuring that both guests and crew members have a seamless and enjoyable experience at the Aruba port remains a top priority.
- Shore Excursions with a “High Value – Low Impact” Focus: Aruba’s commitment to developing shore excursions that deliver exceptional value to cruise passengers while minimizing their impact on the environment and local communities.
The presence of the Aruban delegation at Seatrade Europe and CLIA in Hamburg signifies the island’s dedication to providing extraordinary experiences to cruise passengers while preserving its natural environment and resources.
