Aruba and Italy meet
A.T.A. Europe’s Jaap Ellis and Sharmin de Vries attend the Aruba and Italy meet event at the Italian Institute of Culture in Amsterdam, organized by his excellency the Italian ambassador for the Netherlands, Giorgo Novello and the Minister Plenipotentiary of Aruba Juan Edberto Thijsen.
The evening started with speeches by the institute’s director Paola Cordone, as well as the ambassador and the Minister Plenipotentiary (which included a presentation on Aruba), after a performance with two Aruban carnival dancers and Aruban performer Lord Cachete took place and brought the house down—the evening ended with Sicilian inspired bites.
During the evening, the A.T.A. had the opportunity to converse with the ambassador and update him on all efforts in the Italian market, while coincidentally, a media event was taking place on the same night in Milan. Not only did A.T.A. provide the ambassador with a broader understanding of Aruba’s presence in the Italian market, but A.T.A. also gifted him a bottle of Aruba Ariba rum to get a taste of the One Happy Island.
A.T.A. relished the opportunity to talk about the number of annual Italian arrivals in Aruba and the options the Italian market affords Aruba and to update the ambassador on the fact that a significant portion of our Italian visitors are honeymooners, who in some cases combine their trips, exploring both New York and Aruba. The ambassador expressed a genuine interest in Aruba, and A.T.A. will keep in touch to seek possible collaboration opportunities.
