Celebrate SDG Week 2024: Let’s Commit to a Sustainable Future

Aruba promoting sustainability and global development goals

SDG Week 2024 Commitment is set to take place from September 19 to 25 in Aruba, organized by the National SDG Commission. This week-long event raises awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), calling on businesses, non-profits, government bodies, and individuals to contribute to a sustainable future for Aruba. True change can only happen when we all come together for a common goal.

Choose Your SDG and Commit for a Year

The National SDG Commission invites everyone—individuals, companies, and non-profit organizations—to select an SDG and pledge to work on it for the next year. You can commit by filling out the Pledge Form, available on SDG Aruba’s social media pages.

Share Best Practices to Inspire Others

As part of SDG Week 2024, the public is encouraged to share their SDG success stories on social media using the hashtags #SDGAruba and #SDGWeekAruba2024. This helps inspire others and showcases how sustainable efforts can positively impact both Aruba and the world.

To make this initiative accessible, SDG materials, including logos and informational tiles, are available for download in Papiamento on the SDG Aruba website. This ensures that everyone can actively participate. For any questions, feel free to contact SDG Aruba via email at info@sdgaruba.com.

Understanding the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) encompass more than just environmental sustainability. They cover critical areas such as poverty reduction, quality education, health and well-being, and gender equality. The 17 SDGs are divided into five essential pillars: People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, and Partnership.

  • People: Focus on ending poverty, improving health, quality education, and promoting equality.
  • Planet: Address environmental sustainability, clean energy, water preservation, and climate action.
  • Prosperity: Aim for balanced economic, social, and technological progress.
  • Peace: Encourage inclusive societies with access to justice for all.
  • Partnership: Build stronger collaborations across sectors.

By focusing on these interconnected goals, Aruba can contribute to creating a better, more sustainable future for all.
