Motor Vehicle Tax Compliance for 2024

The Tax Department (DIMP) has reported the latest figures on motor vehicle tax compliance for 2024. As of now, 91,495 registered taxpayers have been monitored, with significant data on their payment status.

Current Payment Status

According to the most recent data, the motor vehicle tax compliance for 2024 reveals that 72,728 taxpayers, or 79%, have settled their tax obligations. However, 17,675 taxpayers, or 19%, have either not paid or have only partially paid.

The details of non-compliance are as follows:

  • First Half of 2024 Paid: 6,609
  • No Payment for 2024: 9,262
  • Total Non-Compliance: 17,675

Action Required

The Tax Department urges all vehicle owners to address their outstanding payments promptly. For overdue motor vehicle tax, a payment plan must be arranged within three months. Non-payment incurs a 50% fine and potential police traffic checks, which can be avoided by paying on time.

Important Notice for 2025

As 2025 approaches, any outstanding 2024 tax debt must be cleared before settling the 2025 motor vehicle tax. Failure to comply will delay the issuance of new license plates.
