High Rise Hotel Road Reconstruction Nears Completion
The long-awaited High Rise Hotel road reconstruction in Palm Beach, Aruba, is entering its final phase. This crucial project, started on April 22, 2024, aims to improve road conditions and enhance the overall experience for both locals and visitors. The Department of Public Works (DOW) has been providing regular updates on social media, ensuring the community is well-informed.
Final Phase of the Road Reconstruction Project
DOW has confirmed that the project is moving into Phase 4, the final phase, which will cover the road between South Beach and Barcelo Hotel. This phase is expected to last 11 weeks. As of now, the High Rise Hotel road reconstruction has made significant progress, with phases 2 and 3 nearing completion.
Road Closures and Project Progress
The current phases of High Rise Hotel road reconstruction have involved paving the “top layer” of the road. On September 5, 2024, the road will reopen for public use. Following this, work will begin on Phase 4, which focuses on a critical section near Barcelo Hotel. Motorists are advised not to park on the road during this period.
Successful Completion of Previous Phases
The project began with the reconstruction of the area near Riu Antilla Hotel. This initial phase took seven weeks to complete, during which drivers were rerouted via Avenida Nelson O. Oduber. New drainage systems and water ducts were also installed under the road to enhance long-term durability.
The second phase covered the area between South Beach and Holiday Inn, featuring similar work as the first. The third phase focused on the reconstruction of pedestrian walkways and sidewalks between Riu Antilla and Holiday Inn, improving pedestrian access and safety.
Overcoming Project Delays
Despite minor setbacks due to weather conditions and the need to order materials from abroad, the High Rise Hotel road reconstruction remains on track. DOW initially planned to complete the work by the end of last year, but unavoidable delays extended the timeline. The project is now projected to wrap up by the end of 2024.
What to Expect from Phase 4
Phase 4 will be the final step in the High Rise Hotel road reconstruction project, and it will involve working on the South Beach area up to Barcelo Hotel. This last phase aims to improve road conditions, increase pedestrian safety, and modernize the overall infrastructure.
