Contacting Aruba’s Tax Department: Tips for Citizens Facing Challenges

Aruba’s Tax Department (DIMP) has been receiving numerous calls, making it challenging for citizens to get through. Bon Dia Aruba reached out to DIMP spokesperson, Meverly Romano, to address these concerns and provide guidance on how to effectively contact the department.

High Call Volumes Impacting Communication

Meverly Romano acknowledged the difficulties many citizens face when trying to contact the Aruba Tax Department. She explained that while there is a dedicated team answering calls constantly, the sheer volume of calls can cause delays. Sometimes, callers may experience longer wait times due to the nature of the questions being asked.

To help reduce wait times, Romano advises keeping calls as brief as possible so that others waiting in line can be assisted sooner. On certain days, fewer staff members may be available to answer calls due to vacations or illness, which can further extend wait times.

Alternative Ways to Contact Aruba’s Tax Department

For urgent matters, Romano recommends that citizens try calling back later or sending an email to info@impuesto.aw, clearly stating their situation. This can be an effective way to get the assistance needed without waiting on hold for extended periods.

Understanding the 2023 Tax Refund Process

Recent news reports indicated that the DIMP has begun issuing tax refunds for 2023, which led to questions from citizens still waiting for their 2022 refunds. Romano clarified that while the 2023 refund process has started, the department is also working on finalizing 2022 refunds. Delays in processing 2022 refunds often result from late submissions, recent registrations, or cases requiring further investigation.

Additionally, some refunds are delayed because the bank account details provided are incorrect or missing. Romano emphasized the importance of ensuring that your banking information is up-to-date with the department to avoid delays in receiving your refund.

Ensure Your Information Is Accurate

To prevent delays and issues, citizens are encouraged to contact the Aruba Tax Department to verify that all their details, especially bank account numbers, are correct. This simple step can help ensure that any refunds or communications are processed smoothly.
