digitization of historical documents, Coleccion Aruba online

National Archive Aruba Enhances Digitization with Fast Internet

The National Archive Aruba (ANA) has recently upgraded to a fast internet connection thanks to SETAR NV’s installation of fiber optic cables. This significant improvement is set to transform how ANA handles the digitization, preservation, and accessibility of Aruba’s historical documents and videos.

Impact of the Fast Internet Connection on ANA

With the new fast internet connection, ANA can now accelerate the digitization process. Using Transkribus, an AI-powered program for reading historical handwriting, ANA will be able to convert more documents quickly. The efficient upload of digitized content to Archive.org will further enhance accessibility on Coleccion Aruba, where historical data is available online.

Future Goals and Current Achievements

ANA has already digitized 140,000 historical objects and anticipates increasing this number to over 150,000 within weeks. By the end of 2024, ANA aims to have more than 200,000 historical items accessible on Coleccion Aruba. This initiative reflects the ongoing effort to preserve Aruba’s cultural heritage.

SETAR NV’s Role in Cultural Preservation

The collaboration between SETAR NV and ANA not only enhances digital capabilities but also underscores SETAR’s dedication to preserving Aruba’s cultural legacy. This partnership ensures that Aruba’s history remains accessible and well-preserved for future generations.
