Intensive OvD-P Course in Aruba

The Aruba Police Force recently completed an intensive training program to introduce new Police Duty Officers (OvD-P), aimed at improving on-scene decision-making and crisis management.

Collaboration with Multiple Departments

This course, which saw participation from officers across Aruba, Curaçao, the Dutch Caribbean, and Sint Maarten, emphasized leadership, collaboration, and quick response to incidents.

Theoretical and Practical Training

The training involved cooperation among various departments, including the Crisis Management Office (CMO), Ambulance Service, and Fire Department. The two-week course, delivered by Mr. Cees van Es and Mr. Ronald Brans-Brabant from the Dutch Police Academy, included both theoretical and practical sessions.

Graduation and Certification Ceremony

At the graduation ceremony, interim Chief Commissioner Mr. Robert Candelaria awarded the participants their certificates and official OvD-P jackets. The Aruba Police Force now has a team of well-trained officers ready to handle any crisis situation.

Successful Participants and Certification

Participants were tested in realistic scenarios to ensure they could apply their knowledge effectively. Out of 16 participants, 13 successfully earned their certifications, marking a significant boost in the capabilities of the police forces involved.
