Aruba Issues 176 New Business Permits in Second Quarter of 2024, Boosting Economic Activity

ORANJESTAD – The Ministry of Economic Affairs has granted 176 new business permits from April to June 2024. These permits are crucial for entrepreneurs and companies looking to start or expand their businesses. Applications are processed through the Department of Economic Affairs, Trade, and Industry (DEACI), which has streamlined the process with digital submissions.

During this period, DEACI received a total of 610 applications, with 213 approved, 211 in process, and 186 pending due to incomplete documentation or payments. The new permits include 23 for sole proprietorships, 16 for branches, 135 for VBA, and 2 for partners in a VOF. Key sectors receiving permits include real estate, hospitality, construction, and retail.

In October 2022, the government introduced a new policy aimed at speeding up the permitting process through digital means to enhance investments in Oranjestad and San Nicolas. Minister Geoffrey Wever praised DEACI for its efficiency and commitment to supporting new businesses.
