Cas di Cultura’s Pride Events: Queer ‘n’ Cozy and The Love Show
Oranjestad, Aruba – Cas di Cultura, Aruba’s esteemed theater and cultural hub, is thrilled to unveil two extraordinary events as part of this year’s Pride festivities. Building on the success of last year’s Pride on Stage and Pride Talks, we proudly present “Queer ‘n’ Cozy” on June 7th and “The Love Show” on June 8th.
Queer ‘n’ Cozy – June 7th
Responding to feedback from Aruba’s youth aged 15 to 25, we’ve curated an evening that caters to their desires for active, intimate, and participatory experiences. The second edition of “Queer ‘n’ Cozy” will unfold in the intimate spaces of Cas di Cultura, fostering a warm and engaging ambiance.
The event boasts a diverse program featuring contributions from HIAS, Orguyo, Famia Planea, and Basha Foundation:
- HIAS presents a workshop on Gender-Based Violence.
- Orguyo shares insights into their impactful initiatives.
- Famia Planea hosts an interactive lecture on sexual education focusing on same-sex relationships.
- Basha Foundation delivers a spoken word lecture.
Attendees can also explore an exhibition by Christiaan Sebastiaan Kock, showcasing his journey navigating a religious background while being queer. Furthermore, the evening will feature works by young queer artists who expressed their emotions during a Pride workshop on May 18th. Adding to the ambiance, local Drag Queens and guest artists from New York’s “The Love Show” will deliver captivating performances.
The Love Show – June 8th
On the second day of Pride weekend, Cas di Cultura presents “The Love Show,” a mesmerizing performance by a renowned theatrical dance company from New York City. Under the direction of Angela Harriell, The Love Show Dancers, accompanied by the band Sunshyne + The Foxx, will bring their celebration of love, life, and diversity to our stage.
This dynamic event features:
- Five talented dancers and a live band with saxophone and electric guitar.
- A high-energy show celebrating love in all its forms.
- Audience engagement through performance.
- Special performances by local Drag Queens, the ‘Cage Dolls.’
Angela Harriell underscores the significance of this event: “The Love Show emerged from our desire to establish a company dedicated to exploring love and genuine human connection in all its manifestations. Over the past 20 years, we’ve collaborated with and supported the Queer community, providing performance opportunities and safe spaces for artists.”
